Access to Information

On 1 July 2010, the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA) commenced for all State Government Agencies, including Local Government. On that day, both the Freedom of Information Act and Section 12 of the Local Government Act were abolished and all applications for information and documents became subject to the GIPA legislation.

In accordance with Sections 25 and 26 of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) Council must keep a record called its “Disclosure Log” that records information that details information released in response to access applications that Council considers may be of interest to other members of the public.
